Ghel’s magical power is a play on words from the phrase, ‘she has a heart of gold.’ The honey-colored unicorn is from the Empath Herd of the Metal-Horned Unicorn Tribe. She has a good and kind nature. Her pure heart allows her to see what lies under the surface of another unicorn so that they may be guided into reaching their highest potential. In part of the Journey To Osm story, Ghel the Gold Horned Unicorn wears a golden veil which is lit with starlight luminescence. The magical veil plays a prominent role in gathering all of the unicorns together in a loving embrace as they prepare to meet their destiny. Historically, a veil was intended to show honor to someone or something. Originally, only noble women were allowed to wear them. In later times, veils were worn by many women who thought it protected them against demons or evil spirits. Today’s brides may not know it but protection from evil is the traditional reasoning behind wearing a bridal veil. For centuries, women have also worn sheer veils during mourning periods after funerals or while awaiting the return of a loved one. Ghel received her veil from Style, the Steel-Horned Unicorn stylist of the Metal Horned Tribe, when Blue took off, alone, to meet his destiny.
