Hetha’s crystal is solid helium but real solid helium needs enormous pressure and cryogenic cold so her crystal would not remain solid at higher temperatures. Regarding the “molecular displacement” climax in Chapter 9: real helium is prized precisely because it doesn’t bond or interact with much of anything (that’s what the noble-gas source links above explain), so using it to physically shove reactive compound molecules out of a crystal lattice by brute density is a fun magic-system extrapolation rather than something with a direct real-world mechanism.
