Real magnesium doesn’t neutralize acid instantly with “light” the way Maggie’s horn does. That’s a purely invented magic layer on top of real chemistry, and elemental magnesium metal actually reacts with acid to produce hydrogen gas rather than simply “neutralizing” it — it’s magnesium oxide/hydroxide (a base) that does classic acid-neutralization.
